Have you noticed any drones flying about your neighborhood lately?

Well, it may not be the FBI checking into your neighbors or some scary criminal trying to spy out a place to burgle. It could just be Royal Crown Roofing inspecting one of your neighbor’s roofs. We may not be used to seeing this in the Houston area, but it’s actually been around a couple of years.

They use their 4k camera quality drone technology for high-resolution inspections of both home and commercial building roofs. The old conventional way of doing roof inspections by walking around for hours on the roof is being replaced by these unmanned flying machines.

Roofing is considered to be one of the most dangerous jobs around and having the assistance of drones in doing inspections is a much-needed innovation. Not only is it safer, but it reduces the insurance costs for an inspection and saves on time and costs involved.

Using drones also makes inspection results available more quickly. It takes only about 10 to 15 minutes for the drone to do the inspection and send the detailed aerial photography and video that identifies any problems to the roofer’s computer. The old way of doing inspections could take an entire day or more if the roof is very complicated.

After giving you a report of the damage on the roof, Royal Crown roofing experts will help you in making plans for the repair or replacement of the roof, plus they will help you fill out your insurance claim. Contact them for more information.

Do the trees around your home give you a comforting sense of protection from the world outside?

Do the trees around your home give you a comforting sense of protection from the world outside?

Do you also love doing things like watching squirrels run up and down that gorgeous oak tree outside your kitchen window while you do dishes? And maybe you remember climbing up that old tree next to the house to your bedroom window when you came home too late? All this sounds rather nostalgic and makes us feel good, but on the practical side, trees growing close to your house can cause a lot of problems.

Royal Crown Roofing recommends that branches that overhang your house be trimmed back so they can’t break off and land on your roof during one of the harsh wind and rain storms we experience here in the Houston area. Branches shouldn’t even be allowed to touch the side of the house for fear of damaging the siding and breaking windows.

On top of that, there’s another danger when branches grow close to your house: They make a great pathway for little creatures to climb onto the roof to make homes in it. A branch bridge to your roof will attract rodents, beetles, termites, squirrels, wasps, and many other pests that can chew through the roof and wood trim on the house.

So, have your trees pruned regularly and contact Royal Crown Roofing if your roof has been damaged! They are glad to help you.

Remember where you were on August 25th, 2017? If you lived in Texas, you will never forget

That was the day Hurricane Harvey, a Category 4 storm, arrived in the Houston area. It lasted through the 29th and left major devastation. It was the first Category 4 hurricane to make landfall in the area since Carla in 1961.

While the yearly average wind speed in our area is about 8 miles per hour, the day Harvey made landfall, it got up to 145 miles per hour and blew many roofs off and collapsed walls in homes and buildings all across Houston and its suburbs. Harvey was unusual because it stalled over the Southeast Texas area for days, rather than moving inward, which usually happens with a hurricane, and it produced torrential rainfall and flash flooding.

Of course, this doesn’t happen every year and we hope it won’t this year. But, this might just be possible, considering the crazy weather we’re having in the USA lately. So, don’t count it out. However, it’s much more likely that we have less severe weather this summer and fall, perhaps just enough to do some minor damage to our roofs—like lifting shingles and causing leaks or damaging vents and fascia.

If you find yourself in this situation, contact Royal Crown Roofing for help. They will not only repair your roof, first doing a free inspection, but they will also aid in filling out insurance papers to help you get reimbursed. Contact them when you need them!

It’s always good to be prepared for extreme weather since we live in the Houston area, next to the Gulf, and onslaughts of sweltering summer heat, rain, high winds, hail, hurricanes and even tornados that are our lot in the way of weather. It’s incredible what all these threatening weather events can do to our homes.

Wind, for instance, is one of the top reasons roofs need replacing. It can do damage as light and unnoticeable as lifting off the corners of shingles which can then create small water leaks that eventually expand into huge, noticeable ones. Hail, tree limbs and other falling debris can do unbelievable damage, ripping off metal flashing, damaging vents, creating dents in and poking holes in the roof. In the worst case, winds can blow the roof off.

One of the most frustrating things to have to deal with after one of our severe storms or hurricanes is having to deal with insurance claims that can take months to process and get a response to. Contact Royal Crown Roofing for the help you need.
